A little more about me

From Professional Ballerina to Exercise Specialist

Hi, my name is Kirsten Johnson, I’m an Exercise Science Specialist. I had a 5 year professional career as a Ballerina & Contemporary Dancer in both the USA and Cape Town. I grew up in a family where exercise was one of the biggest parts of our day to day lives; I danced, my brother plays tennis and mom and dad run. I am so grateful to have grown up in an active family! Not much thought ever went into “staying fit” or “working out,” my life revolved around movement. Fast forward to 2019, on 7 January I retired (which makes me sound old) but technically thats what happened, I resigned from my career in dance and began my fitness journey.

My fitness goal has been to maintain the level of strength, flexibility, power, and endurance that I have developed over the years while dancing. Of course this is easier said than done. Naturally with less daily exercise and no adjustment to my eating pattern my body slowly but surly began to change. This really made me realise just how important exercise and healthy habits are in a regular lifestyle. During the course of 2019 I started to eat a plant based diet and haven’t looked back!

I am passionate about helping people develop a healthy and sustainable lifestyle. I truly believe that health is achieved by applying intention to every aspect of ones life.

“Leading up to my wedding I wanted to get strong not lose weight and have a negative view on my body before such an important day. Training with a Kirst did just that! She trained me hard, and most times I was completely exhausted but after a workout I felt so proud of myself when I reflected on what I had just accomplished and how far I had come to when I started. I was shocked at what my body could do and how strong I got over the weeks, I feel so good, healthy and fit with such a positive view on my body and it’s abilities.
It was a joy to train with Kirst, she highlighted to me the importance of getting up and moving each day and encouraged me to push my limits. It has been such a fun journey, so grateful to have gone on it along side you Kirst!”
